Simon Says Stamp March 2013 Card Kit Blog Hop

Hi everyone! Are you ready for Spring? I know I am! I can't wait to hear the birds sing and watch the flowers begin to grow. This month’s card kit, Friendship Flowers, will definitely make you think of Spring! I was so excited when I saw this month's kit with all the happy colours and am thrilled to be part of this blog hop. You should be arriving from the super sweet and talented Kelly Rasmussen's blog

  https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvmJc2VzxqLNQMV5a1-bdwY182r7HfAFnF9ozOHxLDToxyVlQgzO33TCVf5WEI85ffFKoeYFJ0V2lgy2S8k8wo5dEHu3SfYOv4hVuQ3UI81RTw8ryZzCAgCC-zFSGpJWT5tMo4AfZWaPFt/s1600/SSS_cardkit_march_final_800_zpsd7651334.jpg

I decided to focus on the paper straws that came in the kit for my blog hop projects, making a fun pinwheel and sweet necklace for my daughter.

Everything but the brad to hold the pinwheel together, the string for the necklace, and the adhesive are from the March 2013 Card Kit. To make the necklace I cut the yellow and green straws into various sized pieces and made holes in them with a pin so I could put string through them. I also took some of the patterned paper form the kit and made rolled beads which I covered with Glossy Accents to strengthen them and make them shiny. Once they were dry I put it all together. I think the pinwheel is self-explanatory but feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Here are the links to the supplies I used:

And now to the giveaway part! Leave a comment on this blog post and one lucky winner from my blog will receive a $50 E-Card to shop at Simon Says Stamp. Yay! We will draw a random winner at 9:00 AM EST on Saturday, 3/9/13 so be sure to leave your comment by then.

The next stop in the Simon Says Stamp March 2013 Card Kit Blog Hop is the fabulous Vicky Papaioannou. If while hopping, you encounter a broken link, you can go back to the beginning for links to everyone who is participating in the hop.

Smile Every Day (Simon Says Stamp March Card Kit)

Hi everyone!

Welcome back! Today I'm sharing another card using the Simon Says Stamp March 2013 Card Kit (Friendship Flowers).

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvmJc2VzxqLNQMV5a1-bdwY182r7HfAFnF9ozOHxLDToxyVlQgzO33TCVf5WEI85ffFKoeYFJ0V2lgy2S8k8wo5dEHu3SfYOv4hVuQ3UI81RTw8ryZzCAgCC-zFSGpJWT5tMo4AfZWaPFt/s1600/SSS_cardkit_march_final_800_zpsd7651334.jpg

Today's card uses some beautiful flower stamps, great stickers from the Lawn Fawn sticker sheet, and my favourite woodgrain cardstock (all from the kit).

I white heat embossed a number of the images from the Flower Friends stamp set on white cardstock and used distress inks to fill in the unembossed areas. I then die cut the banner and heart. Some washi tape, a metal clip, and sticker elements finished things off.

Here are the linked to the items I used to make today's card (the 1st 10 are from the kit):

Be sure to comment on my March Card Kit posts (this is my 3rd of 4) for your chance to win one of your own thanks to Heidi, owner of SimonSaysStamp.com. I'll randomly draw and announce a winner Monday March 4th. I'll be back tomorrow with something special so be sure to stop by! :)

Thanks so much!

Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge!

Hi everyone,

I'm back to share a card for this week's Simon Says Stamp Challenge!

This week's challenge is everyone's favourite: Anything Goes! The design team is featuring Tim Holtz products! Yay!

Here's my card:

I decided to use the tie from the Tim Holtz Tag & Tie die set. I thought it was a great way to use up some scraps of patterned paper. :) The ribbon is from the Simon Says Stamp December 2012 card kit. Initially I was going to use a birthday greeting with this card but then the 'Tag You're it!' just came to me. It reminded me of when I was in university and my boyfriend at the time (now my husband) and I would write long letters to each other. We would try to outdo each other in how long they were. :) Anyways, the sentiment is computer-generated. I printed it first on printer paper, adhered the tag on top, and ran it through the printer again.

Here's what I used to make my card:

I hope you'll join us for this week's challenge! Up for grabs is a $50 gift voucher for the Simon Says Stamp store thanks to sweet Heidi! For all the details and to see what the other designers have come up with please check out the Simon Says Stamp Challenge blog HERE.

Simon Says Stamp March Card Kit - "Cute" card

Hi everyone!

I'm back to share another card I made using the Simon Says Stamp March 2013 Card Kit (Friendship Flowers).

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvmJc2VzxqLNQMV5a1-bdwY182r7HfAFnF9ozOHxLDToxyVlQgzO33TCVf5WEI85ffFKoeYFJ0V2lgy2S8k8wo5dEHu3SfYOv4hVuQ3UI81RTw8ryZzCAgCC-zFSGpJWT5tMo4AfZWaPFt/s1600/SSS_cardkit_march_final_800_zpsd7651334.jpg

One of the great things about this kit is, that although there's lots of pink and purple in it, it still has lots of great elements for making boyish cards too.

Here's what I used to make today's card (the 1st 7 items are from the kit):

Just a reminder that Heidi (owner of SimonSaysStamp.com) is generously giving me an extra March Card Kit to give away to one of my blog readers. :) All you need to do is post a comment on any of my card kit posts this week (including last Friday) and I'll randomly draw and announce a winner Monday March 4th. (I'll be back with another card on Thursday and something extra special on Friday). :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Born to Be Wild Card

Hi everyone,

Popping in today for a quick publication share. This card was featured in Paper Crafts March /April issue in the 'Animals to Welcome Baby' section. Here it is:

Besides the ribbon, this card was made entirely with my Silhouette diecutting machine

Supplies:

I also wanted to share that I have a card featured over at the Moxie Fab World blog this week: my World Card Making Day win in the Love category! When I decided to send in some cards for this contest I think I made 1 or 2 new cards and then went through a number of publication rejects to add to the package. I basically added anything that fit one of the 5 categories, that hadn't been blogged, and that I didn't think was hideous. I think that narrowed it down to about 8. Ha! The card that they picked as a winner was the last one that I added... the one that I wasn't sure about. I was so unsure about it in fact that when I found out it was a winner I had to email Susan R. Opel and ask just what it was that drew the judges to that card. You know what she said? It had subway art, used washi tape, and had no pink. Basically the fact that it wasn't a traditional 'love' card. :) Moral of the story is: When in doubt submit it! :)

Here are the supplies I used for my winning card;

I hope you have a great weekend!
