Hostess Gift Card Sets

Hi everyone,

I'm stopping by today to share some card sets I've been working on the last little bit. I find card sets to be a great thing to make when the mojo just isn't there. The designs tend to be quite simple and since I'm mass producing there is little thinking to do once the design is settled on. Once finished they make great hostess gifts. :)

I used Jennifer McGuire's BRILLIANT tutorial for making the boxes. I also used this as an opportunity to use up some of the patterned paper I've hoarding from past Simon Says Stamp Card kits and my own stash.

Here are the 3 card sets I made (this is a picture heavy post). ;)

This first set uses the Paper Smooches Bold Buzzwords Stamp Set and their Quotables Dies, along with some Basic Grey 6x6 Paper and lots of different enamel dots...

My second and third card sets use a number of Simon Says Stamp word dies, Hero Arts sequins, and patterned papers from various Simon Says Stamp Card Kits.

Simon Says Stamp Kristina's Inspiration Challenge

Hi everyone,

Can you believe it's August already?!?! Wow! Time flys! I'm back today to share a card for this week's Simon Says Stamp Challenge!

This week's challenge is an Inspiration challenge and our inspiration comes from our Guest Designer this month, the one and only Kristina Werner. The design team is using Basic Grey products for this challenge.

Here's my card:

I heat embossed both Basic Grey/Hero Arts background stamps and colored them in with alcohol inks. I didn't have a grey one so I painted in the grey areas with Pumice Stone Distress Stain.

My First Cover!

Hi everyone!

Popping in again. I'm excited to share a card I have in Paper Crafts special issue Practical Solutions for Paper Crafters. To be honest, when the call for this issue came out I wasn't really feeling it. I did manage to make 3 cards and was surprised when 2 got picked up. I was even more surprised and excited when I got an email informing me that one of my cards was going to be on the cover! I'm must admit...I was so wrong about this issue! It is AMAZING! So many clever ideas for both cards and storage solutions! LOVE the section on using household items on cards. So much brilliance!

The card I'm sharing today is part of the Do It Yourself  Embellishments section of the issue. Here it is (in front of the actual issue):

I used Echo Parks Victoria Gardens line, a Basic Grey brad, Jane Beljo's handmade button, and lots of Hero Arts embellishments and sentiment (from the Classic Messages set).

Okay...off to bed. It's been a LONG day. ;)

When I submitted these baby tags to Paper Crafts magazine I also submitted a similar one of a bridal couple. That one wasn't picked up and so I made it into a card...

I used my Silhouette for the die cutting along with Basic Grey papers and a Technique Tuesday stamp.

Sharing my heart...

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I see it's been about 3 weeks since I last posted. December was a crazy month here.... with family get togethers, a card making project I was honoured to work on, and an emotional Christmas. I really just needed a few weeks away from blogging.

As many of you know, I made and sent weekly cards of encouragement to my husband's uncle for 15 months during his chemo treatments and continued battle with cancer (which ended just over a week ago on Christmas Day). He was a wonderful man and godly example to me of trusting God during the most difficult times of life. A few of you may know that I started to struggled with anxiety 4 years ago (which I now know was mostly related to undiagnosed Celiac disease). The way my anxiety showed itself was through fear of cancer.... to the degree that I thought every little health issue was a symptom of cancer and couldn't handle hearing anything about cancer. This was a dark and scary time for me, full of fear, and one I hope and pray I don't relive. Our uncle was diagnosed just weeks after my anxiety began... and although treatable it wasn't curable. He faced his new challenge with such an amazing attitude and taught me so much about living life and facing death with the grace and peace that only God can provide. I will never forget this most valuable and life changing lesson or the man who taught it by way of his example.

I didn't take pictures of every card I sent him but I did take pictures of some of them. Here's one that I don't believe I've shared yet.

Spring Get Well Card

Hi all,

Thought I'd pop in real quick and a share card that didn't getting an loving from Paper Crafts. ;)

Here it is:

 

This card uses Hero Arts Butterflies and Wildflowers set as well as Classic Messages. The patterned paper is from Basic Grey's Picadilly 6x6 pad and and the twine is Honeydew by The Twinery.

Just popping in to share that I have an (older) card up on the Basic Grey blog today for their Eye Spy feature! So honoured!

How can you 'Resist' Lily Pad Cards?

Like my title? I could 'resist'. Hee hee. Okay enough of the puns. :)

This week's Lily Pad Cards challenge is use the Resist stamping technique. :) We have a WONDERFUL sponsor this week too! Simon Says Stamp! Yay! I have to tell you, I just love their customer service and international shipping rates. They are top-notch! :)

Here's my card:

For my card I used the Springtime Silhouettes stamp set by Gina K. Designs, Out of Print patterned paper by Basic Grey, and Bloomers ribbon by Webster's Pages.

Instructions:

1.       Make notecard from cardstock.

2.       Cut patterned paper to size and distress edges with distresser.

3.       Clear emboss butterfly image at top and stamp sentiment at bottom.

4.       Using distress inks and ink blending tool apply color over butterfly image.

5.       Adhere panel to card and embellish with ribbon.

Summer Card Camp - week 3

Here I go posting twice in a day again... I'll probably neglect my blog again for a bit after this. ;)

Anyways, I thought I'd make a card for this weeks color combo over at Summer Card Camp. I didn't post one last week b/c it was my week to guest design (my excuse anyways) and I was at my parents with the kids for the week too. ;)

I needed a masculine birthday card and thought these colours would well for that. I pulled together a few scraps and mixed them with some new stuff. All stamps are Hero Arts.The red patterned paper is OLD paper from a slab and the mathematical patterned paper front and center is from Basic Grey's new Oxford line.
