SSS Alcohol Ink Backgrounds and April Card Kit Winner

Hi everyone!

I'm stopping by today to share a few cards made with a number of Simon Says Stamp Dies and Ranger's Alcohol Inks. I've officially jumped on the Alcohol Ink band wagon...and thought I'd pull out my old Alcohol Inks to see if they were still good. I'm happy to report that they still worked just fine! :) Read through to the end of the post to find out who the Simon Says Stamp April Card Kit winner is!

Here are today's cards:

For each card I took Yupo Paper and used two different colours of Alcohol Inks along with Snow Cap Mixative and Alcohol Blending Solution to create my backgrounds. I moved the Alcohol Inks around with the Tim Holtz Distress Marker Spritzer Tool. Once dry, I diecut the pieces with the rectangle from Simon's Bundle of Stitches Dies and added them to matching pieces of cardstock. I diecut Simon's Balloons, Talk Bubbles, and Hearts from vellum, anding black diecut sentiments and shapes to them. (All supplies listed at the end of the post). I adhered these pieces to the card fronts, placing my adhesive behind the black diecuts so it would be hidden. Finally, I trimmed off the vellum that hung over the edges of the cards.

SSS April Card Kit: Layered Butterfly Card and GIVEAWAY

Hi everyone!

I'm popping by to share a final card featuring the fabulous SOLD OUT Simon Says Stamp April Card Kit: Beautiful Day.

Here it is:

For today's card I die cut a piece of Lawn Fawn's Really Rainbow green patterned paper using Simon's Bundle of Stitches Dies and Stitched Oval Dies. I stamped the leaf images from the Beautiful Day Stamp Set using Simon's White Pigment Ink and shaded them in with Prismacolour Pencils. I used the Distress Blending Brush with the Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide Ink on some of the Simon Says Stamp 120 lb White Cardstock to create the background for the butterfly. I stamped the butterfly on this background and again 3 times on one of the pieces of Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow Patterned Paper. I paper-pieced the patterned butterfly, adhered the pieces together with foam squares. The sentiment was stamped on a piece of Simon's Island Blue Cardstock and added with foam squares as well. The whole panel was added to a piece of Island Blue Cardstock for I adhered it to my notecard.

Hi everyone! Welcome!

This month's kit shouts SUMMER with its bright, beautiful colours and butterflies.

Here's the card I'm sharing with you today:

I stamped some of the butterflies from the Beautiful Day Stamp Set with Simon's Island Blue Dye Ink onto a piece of Simon's Island Blue Cardstock. I then stamped the same butterflies with MFT Licorice Black Hybrid Ink on to circles die cut from Simon's 120 lb White Cardstock with Simon's Nested Circles Dies. I coloured these butterflies with Copic Markers before adhering them on top of the blue stamped butterflies, being sure to line up the images. I coloured what remained of the blue butterflies with a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Marker and stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. I matted the stamped panel with a piece of the white cardstock before adhering it to a piece of the Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow 6x6 Patterned Paper. Simon Says Stamp Best Days Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY!

Hi everyone!

Welcome to the Simon Says Stamp Best Days Blog Hop! You should be arriving from sweet Heather Ruwe's blog.

What are your favourites? I'm eyeing all the new picture book goodies and the Suzy's "It's a Dog's Life" Watercolor Printables amongst others.

Yesterday I shared these cards on my blog showcasing some of the new release:

Initially I was going to share them as part of the blog hop today but Wednesday morning creativity hit and I spent the morning making the cards I'm sharing now. I stamped Simon's new Reverse Polka Background onto Neenah White Cardstock with Simon's Steel Blue, Pale Blush PinkSpring Rain, and Smoke Inks. I then diecut each piece with one of Simon's Stitched Rectangle Dies. I thought the polka dots would be perfect for creating patterns with various Lucy's Cards Sequin Mixes.

For this first card, I added sequins to the Reverse Polka Background in a horizontal pattern. I die cut Simon's new Welcome, Little One sentiment from black and white cardstocks, pieced them together and adhered the sentiment to the panel with Darice Foam Adhesive Strips. These adhesive strips are perfect for somewhat intricate dies.

For this next card, I added my sequins diagonally to the Reverse Polka Background, leaving every other row open. I die cut one of Simon's Nested Heart Dies and stamped a sentiment from their previously released Loving Hearts Stamp Set. I adhered the heart with foam tape, trimmed the edge off and added a few sequins to the heart.

This third card has sequins added to the Reverse Polka Background in a vertical pattern. The sentiment from Simon's Handlettered Encouragements Stamp Set was stamped onto a piece of cardstock diecut with one of Simon's Stitched Circles Dies.

For my final card I added sequins diagonally to the Reverse Polka Background to create a rainbow. The sentiment from Simon's Thoughtful Messages Stamp Set was stamped onto one of Simon's Nested Talk Bubbles.

Each panel was matted with white cardstock before being adhered to cardstock that matched the stamped background. These were then adhered to notecards made from Neenah 110 lb White Cardstock.

Simon is giving away a $25 coupon for every stop on the hop. Winners will be chosen over the weekend from the Blog Hop bloggers' comment sections and announced on the Simon Says Stamp store blog on Wednesday.

The next stop on the hop is the wonderful Lorraine Aquilina.

SSS Best Days Release!

Hi everyone!

Today I'm sharing a couple of cards featuring the brand new Simon Says Stamp Best Days Release.

Here's the full release:

Isn't it great?! My favs are the Suzy's "It's A Dog's Life" Printables (I have to order those for my son!), the Birch Circle Die, Picture Book Sky, and the new Picture Book Walrus, Croc, and Lamb. I also LOVE the Line Dance Stencil, You Da Best Die, and all the new SSS Daniel Smith Watercoloring Sheets. I'm definitely going to have a hard time choosing!

In the meantime, Simon sent me a few new baby-themed goodies to play with and here are the cards I'm sharing today:

This first card features Simon's adorable new Oh, Baby Stamp Set and Reverse Polka Background Stamp. I stamped the images and sentiment on a piece of blue cardstock die cut from one of Simon's Stitched Rectangle Dies and paper pieced the stork and bundle. I coloured the heart in with a red Copic Marker and covered it with Glossy Accents. The stork's beak, as well as some grey shading, were also added with Copic Markers. It's hard to make out in the pictures but I also coloured the stork with a Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Marker. The background panel started out with a piece of light pink cardstock which I stamped with the new Reverse Polka Background using Simon's Hollyhock Ink.

My second card features Simon's new Sweet Elephants Dies and Welcome, Little One Dies. The grey background panel was diecut using one of Simon's Wonky Rectangle Dies. The elephants were diecut from a singe piece of reversable patterned paper and their ears were interchanged. I added Hero Arts Black Pearls for the eyes. The woodgrain patterned paper was diecut with one of Simon's Stitched Wimbley Borders Dies and the sentiment is Simon's new Welcome, Little One Dies.

I hope you enjoy this new release as much as I do! Be sure to stop by tomorrow as I'll be sharing 4 new cards as part of Simon's Best Days Blog Hop!

Thanks for visiting!

SSS Foodie Friends Cards

Hi everyone!

I'm popping by to share a set of cards made with Simon Says Stamp's Foodie Friends Stamps. For each card I die cut a piece of Neenah 110 lb Solar White Cardstock with Simon's Stitched Rectangle Dies. I stamped my images in the MISTI using MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink and coloured them with Copic Markers.

I then went through my background stamps and tried matching them up to the coloured images either in theme or design/shape (see supply list at the end of this post). I stamped the backgrounds on 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" pieces of cardstock with matching ink for a tone on tone look and adhered them to notecards made from Neenah White Cardstock. I adhered the stamped panels with foam tape. Finally, I covered the coloured images with a Clear Wink of Stella Marker (the typing paper) and Glossy Accents.

Here are some close ups...

Thanks so much for stopping by!
