Creative Blog Hop

Hi everyone,

Today I'm stopping by to take part in the Creative Blog Hop. You may have seen others participating in this fun hop. It takes place on Mondays and the participants answer certain questions about their work as a card maker. Thanks to Tone of Small T Creations for inviting me to participate. Here's her blog hop post. :)

Here are the questions:

1. What am I working on now?

Homeschooling my four kids! Ha!

As far as cardmaking goes? Nothing at the moment...lol. (See above comment). ;) That should change later this week though. As part of their Card Kit design team I get a fun box from Simon Says Stamp filled with goodies from their upcoming Monthly Card Kit. I make at least four cards using the kit and post them on my blog. Each month I have an extra Simon Says Stamp Card Kit to give away to one of my blog readers. *hint hint* ;)

I'm looking forward to creating something soon for a guest design post in November. I love guest design opportunities when they pop up as they give me a chance to showcase products from companies without a long term weekly design team commitment.

Besides making cards for family and close friends, I also make birthday and anniversary cards along with a dear friend of mine for our church family. Once in a while some of those get posted on my blog too.

Finally, I do some behind the scenes work linking products for another crafter's blog and business. I like that I can work this around the rest of my life and do it from home.

2. How does my work differ from others?

I always find that question hard. I don't really see myself as having a particular style. I feel like I'm kind of a chameleon in some ways... I do gravitate towards graphic shapes rather than images and I love background stamps and dies. I guess I'm clean and fairly simple?

I do like to try and think outside of the box sometimes and use things/images in a way other than what they were intended for.

The snowman's features were created using Simon's Says Stamp's
Sketched Trees Stamp Set.

Christmas stamps were used for a new home card.

3. Why do I create what I do?

It's fun! I like the creative outlet it gives me. I like that I can create and complete something in a short amount of time.

4. How does my creative process work?

For the Simon Says Stamp Card Kits I look at the contents of the kit and try to stick to the products that are included (as far as stamps, papers, embellishments). I look at the stamp set and try and figure out if there's an interesting or unusual way to use it.

The heat embossed lines are all bookshelves...

Next, I do the same with the papers. I usually pull out a number of Simon Says Stamp dies and see if there are any that I think will work particularly well with that month's kit.

I try and make sure that I use all of the different elements included in the kit so that everything gets showcased.

As far as making cards specifically for family/ friends/ church...I usually just pull out things I've been wanting to play with and go for it. :)

Thanks so much to Tone of Small T Creations for inviting me to participate in this hop! I hope I didn't bore you too much. ;)

I've lined up the sweet, fun, and super talented Sandy Allnock to participate in the Creative Blog Hop next Monday! Be sure to visit her blog next week Monday to learn more about her and her creative work. Thanks, Sandy! I can't wait to see your post!

Thanks for stopping by!
Sarah
