Before I Shaped You Card & SSS January Card Kit Winner

Hi everyone,

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! I'm popping by today to share a baby card made with the Simon Says Stamp Sentiments Stamp Set, Holiday Knit Background Die, and Nested Hearts Dies. At the end of this post I'll be announcing the winner of the Simon Says Stamp January 2019 Card Kit.

Before I dive into my card I wanted to let you know that Simon Says Stamp is offering 30% off all Simon Brand Dies. Here are the details:

This card all started when I accidently sent two pieces of Simon's Fog Cardstock through my Big Shot with the Holiday Knit Background Die instead of just one while I was making this previously posted card set. The piece on the bottom ended up embossed with the Holiday Knit impression and decided to use it for another card. I die cut two hearts from Simon's Nested Hearts Dies, one in pink and one in white, and layered them offset on my embossed piece. I stamped the sentiment from Simon's Sentiments Stamp Set with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and mounted the panel on a piece of dark pink cardstock before adhering it to a notecard made from Neenah 110 lb Solar White Cardstock. I finished the card off with sequins and jewels from Lucy's Cards.

SSS January Card Kit: Winter Hello & GIVEAWAY

Hi everyone!

I'm stopping by to share a final card featuring the Simon Says Stamp January Card Kit.

For today's card I decided to paper piece one of the snowmen from the Simon Says Stamp Snow Much Stamp Set using Simon's 120 lb White Cardstock and the Echo Paper Celebrate Winter 6x6 Patterned Papers. I did this on a piece Simon's Surf Blue Cardstock diecut with one of Simon's Stitched Ovals Dies. I added this to a notecard covered with a piece of the Echo Paper Celebrate Winter Paper and stamped a sentiment from the Snow Much Stamp Set. I finished the card off with some Darice White Pom Poms as snowballs.

SSS January Card Kit: Custom Distress Oxide Background & GIVEAWAY!

Hi everyone!

I'm popping by to share another card featuring the fun Simon Says Stamp January Card Kit.

For today's card I took the rest of one of the black tags with the Twirling Ice Skater Die I had die cut for the spinner card I shared in my previous post and inked it with my Custom Distress Oxide Ink Pad. The Distress Oxide Reinkers I added to my ink pad were Worn LipstickBroken China, Faded Jean, and Wilted Violet. I took the inked pad smooched it all over my tag. Once dried I added some snowflakes from the SSS Snow Much Stamp Set using Simon's White Pigment Ink. I also used the Sakura White Jelly Roll Pen to add some smaller snowflakes to the tag. I then used foam adhesive to join the die cut tag to another one of the black tags from the January Card Kit. I then built up my card, adding a piece of Simon's Island Blue Cardstock to my card front. I added a couple of strips of the Echo Park Celebrate Winter 6x6 Patterned Paper and a sentiment from the Snow Much Stamp Set before adhering my tag in place.

SSS January Card Kit Reveal: Twirling Skater & GIVEAWAY!

Hi everyone!

Today is reveal day for the Simon Says Stamp January Card Kit and it is FABULOUS! Take a look at everything included inside:

Most components of the kit can also be purchased individually (see supply list at the end of the post).

I love the adorable Twirling Ice Skater Die included in this card kit and once I also saw the included thread the idea of a spinner card popped into my head:

I decided to keep the design of this card simple so the focus would be on the sweet little skater. I die cut her twice from two of the black tags included in the kit (I use the negative space of one for another card I'll be sharing soon) and sandwiched the string between the two pieces. I made a notecard from the SSS Surf Blue Cardstock included in January's Card Kit, diecutting an oval window in the front of it. I took a piece of the SSS Island Blue Cardstock and diecut it with Simon's largest Stitched Rectangle Die before cutting an oval window into it as well. The top and bottom of the string were sandwiched between these two pieces. I also diecut a piece of the Echo Park Celebrate Winter 6x6 Papers and adhered it inside my card so it would be visible through the window. I finished my little skater off with a Darice White Pompom (just on one side so she would sit flat on the card. My plan is write my message on the back of the card so it doesn't show through the window. :)

I twisted the little skater a number of times before closing the card so that when the recipient of the card opens it up this is what will happen...

She twirls!!! How fun is that?!?

I actually just finished teaching a bunch of grade 7 and 8 students an Interactive Christmas Card Class for 6 weeks and if I do it again I hope to add this card to it!

SSS Holiday Knit Card Set

Hi everyone!

I'm popping by to share a card set made using Simon's new Holiday Knit Background Die. I decided to make tone-on-tone cards using jewel tone colours because they make me think of the recipient. ;)

When I make card sets I like to keep them as flat as possible (with very few embellishments) so I can fit 8 nicely in a clear box with envelopes and so they aren't bulky for the recipient to send through the mail.

For today's cards I diecut the Simon Says Stamp Holiday Knit Background Die from the darker of the two shades of coloured cardstock and adhered it to the lighter shade. In some cases I made my own coloured cardstock by inking Neenah White Cardstock (see supply list for specific colours). Using Simon's Nested Banners Dies I die cut Simon's Vellum and Neenah White Cardstock, stamping sentiments from Simon's Tiny Words Stamp Set with Simon's Black Dye Ink. I added some silver thread behind the sentiment with scoring tape to add a little bit of interest without bulk.

Simon Says Stamp Diecember Release!

Hi everyone!

Happy DieCember! Simon Says Stamp has a great new die release to start out the month of December!

Here it is:

There are lots of fun new dies! I'm making my wishlist. :)

Simon Says Stamp sent me a few of the new goodies to play with and I was thrilled when I saw the new Holiday Knit Background Die. I have a few ideas for how to use this one and hope to have more time to play with it soon. I paired it with the new Hooray Die and one of the Nested Banner Dies to create today's card:

For this card I die cut the Holiday Knit Background Die twice from Neenah White Cardstock. I removed all the little pieces from one and adhered it to the front of my notecard which was covered with adhesive (except for around the outer edges). With my second diecut, I was careful to keep all the little pieces attached while I coloured them with Copic Markers. I then placed this piece over the one on my card front and pushed the small coloured pieces down with the small side of a jewel picker. I found this worked really well for getting the placement right. I die cut the largest angled banner from the Nested Banner Die Set from both grey glitter paper and Simon's Vellum and adhered these in place. I then cut the Hooray Die twice, coloured one black, and adhered them slightly offset from eachother on my card.

I hope you have a great weekend!
